T&R Precision Engineering

T&R Precision Engineering Ltd is a privately owned, skill based company located in the East Lancashire village of Foulridge

Employing over 70 people this forward thinking company is a member of the Aerospace supply chain cluster providing a first class precision machining service to both the Civil and Military sectors.

At the core of the business are its CNC Machine Tools producing prismatic components from its 26 strong range of 5axis and multi-axis mill-turn machines.

What is today an expanding Precision CNC machining company is the direct result of the metamorphosis of a conventional precision machining business brought about by a skilled workforce and a motivated management team driven with a determination and confidence to challenge the constraints that would limit the company’s growth.

Quality

Whilst many espouse the cause of Quality T&R Precision Engineering is of the persuasion that quality requires regular practice, hence its insistence that all production employees should become proficient in the use and application of Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Statistical Process Control techniques (SPC).

The use of SPC is widely employed throughout the business to maintain & improve both component accuracy and consistency together with tool life and its performance.

Hard Metals

The growth in the use of hard metals in the design and manufacture of prismatic parts has lead precision machining companies to invest in the appropriate machine tools to efficiently produce these technically complex parts at competitive prices and within the time constraints imposed.

Over many years of machining hard metals T&R Precision has become well versed in the challenges that Inconel and Titanium present and has invested heavily in the CNC machining centres that enable it to consistently meet the demands of price and delivery.

Assemblies & Kitting

A natural progression from producing prismatic components is for T&R to supply its customers with mechanical assemblies and parts kits.

With constant pressure on companies to reduce costs, there are significant benefits to purchasing kits and assemblies from the same component supplier. These include potential savings in purchasing; scheduling; incoming ‘goods in’ and inspection; internal recourse; reduction in inventory; stock control and many other overhead costs.

Employees

Employing the old fashioned approach of annually recruiting and training Apprentices has enabled the company to meet the significant challenge of skilled labour shortages which the Engineering and Aerospace Industry’s face as one. There is a strong belief within T&R Precision that the future stability of our industry depends upon the ongoing commitment of the young talented people who annually join the industry.

The company has a continuing commitment to training both existing adult employees and apprentices with two young recruits forming its annual induction. With around 20% of its highly skilled workforce made up of its own time served apprentices, the company continues to pursue this rewarding if not inexpensive strategy.
